Martinez Elementary is a large public elementary school nestled in a neighborhood located on the northeast side of Colorado Springs. It was built in 1988 and opened with over 700 students. Today, we serve approximately 600 PreK – Fifth Grade students. Our enrollment continues to stay high and steady.
Our school is known for its high parent involvement through volunteer programs such as PTA, School Accountability Committee (SAC), and our WatchD.O.G. program. Our strong partnerships create a culture of a high performing team with families and school working together ~ Synergy at its best.
Martinez is a higher performing school with a newly awarded Colorado Department of Education Highly Effective School Library Program. Our special areas (Technology, Music, Band/Orchestra, Art, and PE) are top notch programs which enhance our learning environment throughout the school.
In the fall of 2012, we began our implementation of The Leader in Me program which is based on Stephen Covey’s 7 Habits of Highly Effective People. We stress the importance of Leadership in all that we do and use the Covey model to guide us. We began with the end in mind and are striving to become one of the first Leader in Me Lighthouse schools in the Colorado Springs area.
