Karla Bonoff has been described as one of the finest singer/songwriters of her generation.
Karla Bonoff has been writing songs since she was 15 years old and made her professional debut when three of her songs appeared on Linda Ronstadt’s Hasten Down the Wind album. She has also written for Bonnie Raitt and Wynonna Judd. But as others were scoring hits with Karla Bonoff songs, Bonoff was embarking on a solo career. Her song, ‘I Can’t Hold On,’ reached number one, she scored coveted spots on major tours, opening for James Taylor and Jackson Browne, and earned a rave review in Time Magazine. Two subsequent albums, Restless Nights, and Wild Heart of the Young, established Bonoff as one of LA’s major artists and songwriters. She has gone on to work with Joe Walsh, Don Henley, and JD Souther, and scored a mega-hit with the song ‘Somebody’s Eyes,’ from the movie Footloose. Bonoff’s career came full circle when she penned three songs for her old friend Linda Ronstadt: ‘Cry Like a Rainstorm,’ ‘Howl Like the Wind,’ and ‘All My Life,’ a duet with Aaron Neville, which won the GRAMMY Award for Best Vocal Performance by a Duo or Group.
“Long before Alanis and Jewel, there was a breed of singer/songwriters whose earthly anthems of soul-searching, heartache and joy touched souls in a way few can muster today.” –Billboard Magazine review of Karla’s All My Life recording
