“I am an artist and have been painting for the last eight years and as a lifelong learner, I like to challenge myself with difficult pieces. I oil paint because I have to use up the tubes of oil paint before the expiration date… just like wine.”
– Bruce Elliott, Colorado Springs
Bruce studied various disciplines in the 1970s and 1980s, which included photography and art at Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas, Graphic Arts at the College of the Mainland in La Marque, Texas, and Mathematics at San Jacinto College in Pasadena, Texas.
He was at Ford Aerospace for NASA from 1975 – 1991, started as a photographer and ended up as a Systems Analyst redesigning software display components for the Mission Control Center. For the next 25 years, Bruce remained in the computer field performing as a Systems Analyst, System Engineer, Business Analyst, and Enterprise Architect…etc. The last 10 years of his career in computers was spent as a consultant with extensive travel throughout the U.S. and, parts of Europe.
Bruce retired from the hectic work life in 2016 and has been studying drawing and oil painting. Though in the early years there was some drawing and oil painting, it was never serious and he did not have time to develop. To date most of the paintings are self-taught through a lot of reading textbooks, watching YouTube videos and reaching out to other artists through social media.
