An annual event hosted by the Japan-America Society of Southern Colorado in cooperation with Colorado College to celebrate the Japanese holiday Children’s Day.
In cooperation with Colorado College, the Japan-America Society of Southern Colorado is hosting the annual Children’s Day Festival on Saturday, May 6 at the Edith Kinney Gaylord Cornerstone Arts Center at Colorado College from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Craft activities, which take place from 10 a.m. to noon, include origami, calligraphy, Mother’s Day card making, and decorative carp making.
Children will also have an opportunity to learn traditional Japanese games like kendama, darumaotoshi, and yo-yo water balloons, as well as modern Japanese culture through anime and manga drawing activities.
This event will conclude with live entertainment from noon to 12:30 p.m., including a dance exhibition, a martial arts demonstration, and a gala fashion show.
Please come and join in celebrating Japanese culture! The event is free, but donations are welcome.
