Introduction to Bobbin Lace with Elizabeth Barber

Presented by Textiles West at Thread Lab at Cottonwood Center of the Arts

Bobbin lace is a traditional lace making technique that is much like braiding with many strands of thread or yarn. While it is being woven the lace work is supported by a large pillow. Historically, lace was made with very fine cotton, silk and linen threads, but in this class we will work with slightly larger yarns and patterns to make the work easier and quicker.

In this class learn about bobbin lace supplies and equipment, how to start a project, and how to create a pattern pricking. Students will create a small sampler of basic bobbin lace stitches.

A supply fee of $25 includes all materials and equipment for the class. Students can borrow bobbin lace pillows and bobbins from the instructor for use during the class.
