Larry Green will provide a general overview of the struggle between the Atchison Topeka & Santa Fe Railroad and the Denver & Rio Grande Railroad over Raton Pass and the Royal Gorge during the years 1878 through 1880.
This program will also provide a forum to discuss the myths and fables of these historic events. Program format is in a casual, catered, buffet style dinner setting.
Larry was born in Colorado Springs and raised in Manitou Springs. He is a graduate of St. Mary’s High School, Southern Colorado State College and Colorado College with an MA in Southwestern Studies.
Larry was privileged to enjoy two seasons of field experience in Historic Archaeology working with Dr. William G Buckles of Southern Colorado State College, University of Southern Colorado. He is the 2015 recipient of the Historic Preservation Award by the Pueblo County Historical Society.
Membership in the Pikes Peak Posse of the Westerners is open to individuals with an interest in Western history. Guests are welcome!
