Nobel Prize winning playwright Dario Fo seamlessly combines social commentary and dark comedy as he examines the death of a protestor in police custody and the subsequent cover up by those in power.
In addition to creating new and original work, the Millibo Art Theatre reinvents a “classic” play each year with a twist. This November they are tackling the internationally recognized satire Accidental Death of an Anarchist by Nobel Prize winning playwright Dario Fo.
This sharp political farce seamlessly combines social commentary and explosive physical comedy. Based on a real life events, bureaucratic duplicity comes to light through the examination of the mysterious death of a protester in police custody from a fall out of a police window. Did he jump or was he pushed?! With absurdity and humor the abuse of power is questioned.
“….a heady blend of vaudeville and politics that suggests the Brothers Marx, Karl and Groucho have been working in unison.” – The Guardian
In a new format that mirrors, historically, Dario Fo’s creative process, artistic director Jim Jackson will be playing the infamous comedic lead “The Maniac” along with an ensemble of local comedic actors including, Hannah Rockey, Alex Williams, Erik Brevik, and Anna Faye Hunter.
