His exhibition “Lightning Speak” features both solo and collaborative work. Originally from the Navajo Nation, he is also a member of the Indigenous art collective Postcommodity, a team of conceptually-driven artists who challenge limiting and market-driven notions of Native American Art.
Chacon’s diverse practice, which ranges from sculptural sound installations, to site-specific performance and collaborative projects, resists pigeonholing of art, music, and social experience into distinct categories. Raven Chacon is the first Mellon Foundation Artist in Residence for the Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center at Colorado College.
