Join a beautiful trail run offering a glimpse of the soon to open “Dixon Trail.”
A new trail is being built in Cheyenne Mountain State Park (CMSP) following a part of the historic Dixon Trial. This old trail was used by Thomas J. Dixon and his family who homesteaded on top of Cheyenne Mountain.
This is the community’s opportunity to experience this beautiful trail before it is open to the public!
There are two distances to race: three miles and approximately ten miles. This is the third annual trail race and the race gets longer each year as more of the trail is completed. By 2018, the goal is to have a race to the top of Cheyenne Mountain.
The exact distance of the longer (approximately ten mile) race will be announced race day. There will be six water stops on the course, however runners are encouraged to carry their own water so that it is available when needed.
El Paso County Search & Rescue will be out on the racecourse to provide emergency response.
This race is presented by the Friends of Cheyenne Mountain State Park a 510(c)3 nonprofit organization. Race proceeds will be used to help fund the building of the Dixon Trail to the top of Cheyenne Mountain.
Tech-shirts will be provided for all. Overall and age group awards will be given out.
The Friends of Cheyenne Mountain State Park website provides race maps, a course description and list of our incredible sponsors. Look for The Cheyenne Mountain Run tab for details.
Event fee includes park entrance fee.
