Fun art classes for all levels in an edgy, art-filled environment right downtown.
The newly re-imagined S.P.Q.R. Art Space (formerly conjoined with The Modbo) announces four new classes starting on August 28.
These classes are taught by renowned artist and teacher Brett Andrus, and they are still located in the edgy alley art gallery space of S.P.Q.R., each round of classes lasts for nine sessions.
This class starts on Monday, August 28 at 5:15 p.m. Drawing is the basis of all art making. If you can learn how to draw, everything else becomes easier. In Drawing 201, students will be introduced to new drawing mediums and techniques. Classes are taught in a studio setting, with individual attention as students work on exercises and in-class drawings.
Mixed Media Exploration
This class starts on Monday, August 28 at 7:15 p.m. Students will be introduced to a variety of mediums. Ranging from found object assemblage to ink, acrylic paint, and charcoal, students will be provided a safe place to play and explore their creative process. Class will be light, fun, and full of curiosity.
This class starts on Tuesday, August 29 at 5:15 p.m. Have you ever asked yourself, “Okay, I have put in the work, I have learned how to draw and paint, now what?” That is a great question and the next step in your progression as an artist. This class is designed to answer your next step questions. This is a “How To” class. The instructor, Brett Andrus, has produced 8 solo exhibitions in the last 4 years, so whether you are brand new to the exhibition process or a veteran of past exhibitions, Andrus will give you the tools to help you produce efficiently and with integrity. This will be a seminar class, covering topics from goal setting and planning, prep work, support and frame building– basically, how to take you ideas from Point A to Point B.
Oil Painting Studio
This class starts on Tuesday, August 29 at 7:15 p.m. This class is designed for the more advanced student with some training in oil painting. Students will have the opportunity to work on their own ideas while receiving critique and process pointers from both the instructor and other students. This is a class that is meant to help with accountability and your growth as a painter.
