Austin based, Lion Heights, will be playing roots reggae music to get dancing feet moving. With special local guest, Logan LaValley, and Jamaican, Fyah Sthar, the night is one not to be missed.
The music pumping out of Jamaica in the 60’s and 70’s has held a strong influence on the members of Lion Heights long before their formation in 2013. The group met as students while attending Columbia College in Chicago. It did not take long for them to gain traction in Chicago’s reggae community. Their unique ability to combine aspects of R&B and soul gave them a versatility that drew in audiences of all musical backgrounds from across the Windy City.
In 2014, the band relocated to Austin, Texas and quickly gained a strong reputation not only for their unparalleled performance, but also for their ability to hold the vibes as the backing band with such names as Dawn Penn, I Wayne, and Sister Nancy. When acts like Kabaka Pyramid, Jesse Royal, and E.N Young of Tribal Seeds come through Texas, Lion Heights is called upon to open up the show. With a self released EP, “Survival of the Richest,” and the single “Good One (ft. SLik D)” receiving international airplay, Lion Heights has built a solid foundation. On June 9 they released “Same Situation.” The album was mastered by E.N. Young and released on Rebel Sound Records.
South by Southwest was a spring board as they headed west to California. 14 days and 11 shows later they returned with a performance at the Austin Reggae Festival. With Colorado in their sights, they’re back on the road and will be at Royal Castle Lounge. Come catch the vibes!
