Come to historic Victor, Colorado, as “plein air” artists from around the country gather to paint on location in our historic town to paint!
Looking for something to do for the Labor Day weekend?
Victor Celebrates the Arts invites art lovers, history buffs, families, tourists and gamblers to enjoy the 18th annual ART SHOW AND SALE in the authentic gold mining mecca on the sunny side of Pikes Peak. Architecture from the late 1800’s remind visitors of the past.
All artwork is painted the week before the show in the Victor and Cripple Creek area.
Antique shops, art galleries, eateries, chuck wagon vittles, unique shops and museums are open for shopping and browsing.
Hundreds of paintings are created on location within 10 miles of the Victor City Hall. In the week prior to Labor Day, dozens of artists gather from around the country to capture the lively, authentic 1890’s community and grandeur of the Sangre de Christo Range. Finished and framed creations are for sale in the Arts and Crafts style Elks Lodge. Price range: $100- $1800.
Several popular art events are open for the public to watch. The timed competition BRUSH RUSH (Sun,9 to noon) has artists gather at a secret location. Their fresh creations are on display/sale at noon, Elks Lodge. Come to Wallace Park for the Quick Draw (Mon, 9 to noon) timed competition where vignettes are set up for the artists.
Purchase them off the easel! Their bin work for sale also. Want to see the artists working? They will be on the streets Aug. 25- Sept. 1 prior to the show.
Victor Celebrates the Arts (VCTA) was established as a non-profit 501(c)3 organization in 1999 to promote the arts. Our first show occurred in 2000. 30% of all art work sales receipts go to support VCTA, and 70% to the participating artist.
