Interested in the Pikes Peak Watercolor Society? Come visit with us at our monthly meeting in the Harvey House Room at Catalyst Campus.
We invite you to be our guest at one of our monthly PPWS meetings, or join us as a member. We meet at 5:30 p.m. the third Wednesday of each month (except July). At each of our monthly meetings, we have a social “meet and greet” with light refreshments from 5:30 p.m. until the meeting starts around 6:00 p.m. Monthly artist demo presentations start by 6:45 p.m. and we usually wrap up for the evening by 8:30 p.m. or a little after.
May’s meeting will feature a painting demo by one of the premier transparent watercolorists in the US, Joe Beckner, who has won numerous awards and best of shows regionally and nationally. His dramatic landscapes of Colorado, in rich vibrant colors, have a serenity that captures the West as it once was and is today.
PPWS has been around since 1986, with currently over 150 members, promoting, educating, and encouraging artistic excellence and achievement in watercolor and watermedia painting among our members, and throughout our community.
We do this by sponsoring exhibitions, including our biennial juried exhibition known as “International Watermedia.” We also provide educational funding, workshops, and continued support of our other local and regional arts organizations and educational institutions.
Numerous PPWS members actively participate and show in local and national watercolor and art society exhibitions. Works by society members also appear regularly in galleries, books, and publications. Besides our monthly demos, many members also teach art classes, organize show events and painting outings, and hold workshops locally, nationally and abroad.
