'Kurdish Resiliency: Women Rising Up'

Presented by Colorado Springs World Affairs Council at UCCS - University Center, Room 122

The leadership initiatives of Kurdish women are branded with swift and effective empowerment in the wake of the bloody and devastating Islamic state control of the Saddam regime. They are combated still with ideology and conflict that threatens the freedoms and rights of women every day.

Amanda Metcalfe takes an intimate look into the women of Kurdistan, their socio-cultural backdrop, and the recent, and ancient history influencing female leadership in Kurdistan today.

The women’s freedom movement is highlighted with an exclusive perspective of these current ideological and political battles that includes the Syrian and Iraqi conflict with ISIS.

In addition to the freedom movement, Amanda examines innovative, intellectual, social, and political leadership strategies.
