Presented by Colorado Springs Children's Chorale at SILC Building

The Colorado Springs Children’s Chorale invites all singers grades K-6, to the Manitou Springs SILC Building (405 El Monte Pl) Wednesday, for Overture (k-3), and the High Altitude Youth Chorus (HAYC)(3-6). These programs will both explore music and the performing arts. The fun starts at 3:30.

The Colorado Springs Children’s Chorale and Manitou School District 14 will, for the second year in a row, collaborate to bring to the westside and Teller County, The High Altitude Youth Chorus and Overture Performance Prep Class. These programs provide a dedicated, convenient space for young singers who live along the Ute Pass corridor. They focus on developing sound vocal technique, a solid introduction to performance skills and the basics of music theory in a safe, fun, supportive environment. the High Altitude Youth Chorus is a place for kids grades 3-6 to explore ensemble singing, choreography, and dramatic interpretation. In fun fast-paced rehearsals these young singers hone the skills they need to be total performers while building friends, and building confidence and self-esteem. The program runs for three nine week sessions with performance opportunities scheduled throughout the school year.

West Side Overture provides a unique opportunity for young children to develop skills as musicians and performers. Students will be introduced to the art of choral singing, drama and movement. Music theory instruction will include note reading, sight singing and musical terminology. Each and every class is a high-energy, fun journey for budding performing artists. At the conclusion of the semester, there will be an “informance” to display student achievement.

These programs would not be possible without the proud support of the Kirkpatrick Family Fund.
