John Nizalowski will discuss the importance of the Colorado Springs area to the life and work of one of the most important authors to emerge from the Rocky Mountain West — Frank Waters. Colorado Springs native Waters, the “godfather of Southwestern American literature,” was born in 1902 and lived in his hometown until 1924. He returned in 1936 to work on “Midas of the Rockies,” his biography of Winfield Scott Stratton, and would make repeated visits to Colorado Springs until his death in 1995.
