Gaga is a movement language invented by the Israeli choreographer Ohad Naharin. Gaga emphasizes sensation and moving, pushing the body to its limits and extremes, and breaking down habits. The workshop will be taught by Ron Amit and Michael Garber. Ron Amit will be teaching gaga and was a member of Batsheva Ensemble for three years and has worked with choreographers including Ohad Naharin, Arkadi Zaides, Sharon Eyai, and Osnat Kelner. His own work has performed abroad in Holland, Belgium, Spain and Hungary. Ron is a qualified teacher of Gaga, Ohad Naharin’s movement language and has taught open Gaga classes for both dancers and non-dancers in many countries around the world. Michael Garber will be teaching contemporary and has lived and worked in NYC for five years, during which time he worked with choreographers including Andrea Miller, Sean Curran, Beniot-Swan Pouiffer, Nathan Trice, Doug Varone and more. His choreographic work has been shown in the US and Sweden. He most recently studied Modern Dance at the University of Utah and was an Artists in Residence at SugarSpace in Salt Lake City, UT. He is a certified Yoga instructor and Reiki Practitioner.
