Plein Air Painting Workshops

Presented by Monument School of Fine Arts at Monument School of Fine Arts

“The object isn’t to make art, it’s to be in that wonderful state which makes art inevitable.” ~Robert Henri

Beginners to advanced, we'll begin this 2014 Plein Air workshop season with gusto! First hour is demo/instruction, the rest of this half-day workshop is hands-on drawing and painting. We'll do classical oil techniques, but with fast-drying acrylics so your painting is ready to take home and frame by day's end. Expert plein air painter Janet Sellers will be available throughout for painting guidance and demonstrations.

We begin with the scene at hand on site, and sketch from nature. Your expert instructor, Janet Sellers, will have the scene ready to demonstrate from the general start up through the fine tuning necessary to create and take home a painting made outdoors, en plein air, in the plein air tradition. Bring your camera to record your scene – just in case you want to add to your painting later.

Janet Sellers is an American artist, art teacher, and writer. She makes public art sculptures and monumental murals for Colorado and California cities, teaches art locally, and you can often see her painting pictures outdoors, faithful pooch at her side, in just about any weather.
