Pikes Peak Philharmonic Orchestra, which just won an Arts Business Education (ABE) Award in the category of Ongoing Support for the Arts, wraps up its 2015-16 season with a show conducted by Maestro Luciano Silvestri, Jr.called “Lost in Space,” featuring “Close Encounters of the Third Kind,” selections from “E.T.” and excerpts from Star Wars ((John Williams).
They will also perform Mozart’s Jupiter Symphony, the opening of Strauss’s “Also Sprach Zarathustra” and “Star Trek Through the Years” (Jerry Goldsmith). District 11’s Russell Middle School orchestra, directed by Barb Greenlee, will perform right after intermission. Conductor Luciano R. Silvestri, Jr. provides interesting and educational background information about the music beginning at 2:15 p.m.
The 2015-16 theme (with variations) is “Lost,” but do not misplace this opportunity to catch the final concert of the orchestra’s amazing season.
