JayCee Beyale grew up in the Four Corners area, and received his BFA in Printmaking from the University of New Mexico. He currently manages a screen printing shop in Colorado Springs and often participates in collaborative murals and other art projects with fellow graduates of UNM.  JayCee’s connection to aboriginal culture is heavily influenced by his involvement in the arts.  His personal identity and background have always been present in his work because he is proud of who he is and where he comes from. JayCee Beyale’s career as an artist started when he discovered street art and graffiti.  He is deeply influenced by electronic music, and feels certain that without music, his art would not exist.  Combining traditional indigenous ideologies and his personal Buddhist practice, Beyale is always striving to emphasize the concepts and convictions in his art. Using a combination of spray paints and acrylics, he hopes to share his beliefs by celebrating the fusion of technology and indigenous culture. He aspires to illustrate the Laws of Movement and Unity in his first show for The Modbo, “Accent Augment.”

Christian Medovich was born in New Jersey in 1973. Medovich works in oils as his primary medium. He studied theater and production design from Georgia Southern University. Medovich began his painting education through The Modbo under the instruction of Brett Andrus. Medovich has shown work at The Bridge Gallery and at SPQR.  In 2014, he was awarded  an honorable mention at the  2014 plein air festival in Victor, Colorado.

The work presented in “Garbled” has no rhyme nor reason. The choices for some of the work were another time, and had a different meaning. Other pieces had distinct meaning or purpose– they had context when presented next to one another. When removed from their original design they represent a smelting of ideas, much like plastic toys melted together in a metal box.
