The geography of space…..open…..vast…..where I can breathe.
I lived all over the United States as a child, from the furthest northern points in Anchorage, to the depths of the South in Savannah. I moved to Colorado from the congested metropolis of Atlanta where I was met with space. I often find myself alone, or with only my husband – we are the only people for miles. This is a gift in a world that is far too connected, far too distracted, and most of the time, too crowded.
My images of western towns reveal a human presence largely through their absence, the occasional cliché ‘wild, wild West’ vernacular, and sometimes a hint of life that conjures a bit of nostalgia. This collection represents my Colorado, my civilized frontier. These are the places where I can breathe.
