Some believe that collage artists are not really tapping into the depths of artistic expression. Clearly, they have not met Nadine Sage. Her sophisticated collection of original, fine art collages will make you look at collage in a whole new light. Captivated by the flexibility and beauty of paper, she loves juxtaposing images to form new works of art. Her images, existing and created, are enhanced with a variety of mediums. Nadine meticulously trims her images to adjoin each other with very little, if any, overlap. She applies the unique technique of heating and transferring images to create a complex yet balanced composition. The result is the creation of visually pleasing and intellectually stimulating artwork. She is the youngest of seven, raised in Massachusetts and Prince Edward Island, Canada in a family of accomplished artists. After graduating with a bachelor of fine arts degree, she lived in Europe for several years and eventually ventured back to the States. Tired of the typical master mediums, she began to collage using the polymer and heating technique. Ever since she started, she has not stopped. Nadine is an avid collector of prints from the 18th & 19th centuries and is artistically inspired by the bird, animal, insect, sea life, and botanical imagery in which they display. She incorporates many of the antiquated illustrations in her collages, most of which mirror her years on the eastern sea shore and living in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains. Nadine has participated in shows from Massachusetts, Maryland, Tennessee, Florida, to Colorado. Her work is displayed at the Business Art Center Gallery in Manitou, Colorado.
