Vinyasa Yoga is a physical practice, much like a moving meditation, designed to still the mind and bring greater awareness to the body. In Vinyasa we’re doing a movement practice and we’re sequencing breath and movement. Vinyasa is essentially linking the breath and movement in each practice.

The meaning of the word Yoga is union. The idea is to bring the mind, body and spirit together, though I typically leave the more spiritual side to each individual. Ultimately, Yoga is an appreciation of the world around you and your place in it; seeing life as it actually is versus how we have been conditioned to perceive it.
Vinyasa Yoga is one of the more popular forms of yoga, especially in Colorado Springs. It can be faster paced than some other styles of yoga, meaning that some beginners and newcomers to yoga may find these yoga classes intimidating.
Vinyasa Yoga from the Ground Up will get you started with yoga in just two hours. We will break down the basics of linking breath with movement. We’ll also break down some of the common poses used in Vinyasa classes. Bring a notebook and you can draw your own stick figures of the poses and write the names, so you can practice them at home.
Toward the end of the workshop, we’ll get you flowing through some poses so you can practice what you learned during the beginning of class.
This workshop is great for beginners or students looking to become more physical after an injury. It is low impact, but will help build awareness of the core principles of Vinyasa Yoga.
