Join to hear about the styles of Mimbres pottery through time and explore what the images suggest was a rich and complex ceremonial life in southwestern New Mexico.

Over a millennium ago, the Mimbres branch of the Mogollon culture produced unique and distinctive black-and-white painted ceramics, which have become world-famous and quite valuable. First characterized by bold geometric designs, later works show elaborate geometrics, refined brushwork, and very fine line work. The pottery from the Classic Period also shows a dramatic shift in the Mimbres cosmology and an association with cultures in Northern Mexico.
