With three railroads serving the Cripple Creek and Victor Gold Mining District at the apex of mining operations around 1900, there were trains running all the time – hauling gold ore down to the smelters in either Colorado City or Florence; bringing in passengers, freight and supplies; as well as serving interurban traffic.
