Pioneer Wolfe was a participant in the Pikes Peak gold rush and settled on Cheyenne Creek adjacent to the Rev. William Howbert homestead. His ranch was subdivided starting in the 1880s. He later opened a Cripple Creek gold mining company. The Harlan family was neighbors of the Wolfe family. Harlan men were masons,and owned their own brickyard.
