The Fine Art of Poster Design

Advertising posters date back many years, come in all shapes and sizes, and cover a multitude of subjects and events. They have been created for operas, musical recitals, prize fights, carnivals and sporting events. Poster art has become a form of decoration and considered collectable. We’ll study the various styles used by the pioneers, Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec and Alphonse Mocha, leading up to the 60s poster renaissance with artists, Peter Max and others. Using mixed media, we’ll explore the various techniques of design and lettering to create these unique and exciting works of art!
