“An old squeezebox band in the hotel lobby of a Fellini movie” is how DeVotchKa’s Tom Hagerman, who plays accordion and violin with the group, describes Grande Orquesta Navarre’s sound.
This Denver-based combo features Hagerman, Susan Cahill (Summer Music Festival faculty and double bassist with the Colorado Symphony), bowmaker Evan Orman on bandoneon and cello, and Boulder pianist Sara Parkinson.
Be prepared to hear tango, folk, gypsy, jazz and classical, mixed together into a unique style that is both a throwback and a revelation. The Festival cannot think of a more exciting way to kick off our 2018 season!
