‘sound & color | works inspired by wassily kandinsky’ presented by Cottonwood Center for the Arts at Cottonwood Center for the Arts, Colorado Springs CO

For Kandinsky, color had the ability to put viewers in touch with their spiritual selves. Cottonwood tasked artists with this as inspiration, and have curated a collection of 2D and 3D works anchored in this corner of abstract art.

Music played an important role in the development of Kandinksy’s abstraction in no small part because he experienced the rare neurological phenomenon called synesthesia.

Kandinksy literally saw colors when he heard music, and heard music when he painted.

For Kandinsky, color had the ability to put viewers in touch with their spiritual selves.

Cottonwood tasked artists with this as inspiration, and have curated a collection of 2D and 3D works anchored in this corner of abstract art.
