The Cultural Office is pleased to present the works of sculptor Jeremiah Welsh for his first solo show in our region: “Seeking Surfaces – Then and Now – A Chronology in Low Relief Sculpture.” Meet Jeremiah at the opening reception on Friday, August 4 from 5-8 p.m. during First Friday in Downtown Colorado Springs
Welcome to the realms of low relief sculpture as an expression of mind, metaphor and meaning. Low relief, one of the great sculptural mediums of the ancient world, generates the appearance of measurable space through the manipulation of implied distance and dimension. Through it, a sculptor is offered a unique method of engaging complex ideas, compositions and narratives. Jeremiah Welsh has lived and pursued the possibilities of low relief sculpture professionally for twenty years. ThisView more
