Recollective - Ormao Dance Company's 25th Anniversary Summer Concert

Come celebrate Ormao’s 25^th Anniversary! Presenting choreography by 4 different choreographers, Ormao is premeiring new work by internationally recognized Chung-Fu Chang as well as Ila Conoley Paladino. In addition, choreographers Tiffany Tinsley Weeks and Janet Johnson are also contributing work to the program. Ormao’s concerts always create an experience that engages the senses, visually, aurally and emotionally.

Paper Cranes         Choreography: Chung-Fu Chang

A delicate work, rich in imagery, shape and design. Chang has created a piece that layers dancers with text and a river of red silk with large scale white paper cranes.

Proximity investigates the compartments we find ourselves living in, from being in the womb through to the relationships we form and the distance they create. The separation between us and them- the space between you and me.

Bound/Unbound/Rebound – Trauma. Action, inaction, negative emotions tie down, suffocate, hinder. Recognizing what binds and removing that binding – laborious, painful. Gray. Releasing the negative binding frees but dependency on the memory proliferates. Self-discovery. Seeking support. Supporting. Living, breathing, rebinding in color. Bounding out to open eyes. Seeing others. Empathy.
