Prison Arts: Rehabilitation and Creation

This “Just Talk” session at UCCS’s Kraemer Family Library will feature a number of artists, educators, and activists who will discuss how we can use the arts as a form of rehabilitation and reintegration for those in our prison systems. At the heart of the discussion is how the arts remind us of our humanity. How do the arts create civilization? The round-table discussion welcomes comments, questions, and stories from the general public – come and be part of the conversation!

In collaboration with the UCCS Theatre and Dance Program’s production of Timberlake Wertenbaker’s Our Country’s Good at the ENT Center for the Arts. This play dramatizes the first penal colony in Australia and the way in which the theatre was used to enable discourse and to create empathy between jailer and convict.
