After experimenting with various photographic processes and techniques, Loomis settled on her own unique style and amassed a collection of over 20,000 images throughout the next six decades.

Once introduced to photography by her favorite uncle Willard Jackson in the 1890s, young Sara fell in love with both the expressive and documentary qualities of the medium.
