“The Living Death of Solitary Confinement”
Professor Lisa Guenther is an Associate Professor of Philosophy at Vanderbilt University. Her work focuses on phenomenology, feminism, race and racism, mass incarceration, and capital punishment. She is the author of Solitary Confinement: Social Death and its Afterlives (2013) and co-editor, with Geoffrey Adelsberg and Scott Zeman, of Death and Other Penalties: Philosophy in a Time of Mass Incarceration (2015).
