Peak FreQuency Creative Arts Collective presents: Extending the Line

Ensemble Peak FreQuency (Jane Rigler, Glen Whitehead and Colin McAllister), the resident faculty ensemble of the UCCS Music Program, will give an interpretive response to the Extending the Line show at the Colorado College IDEA Space (Cornerstone Art Center), “drawing the sonic line” through original and thoughtfully chosen works.

Line in (Space) Time – There is nothing more straightforward than the idea of a line fixed between two points. But, how is a line defined when situated in time and space? For A line fixed between two points in time – is it absolute, or is appearance and identity only relative, constructed by the observer? Where, or how is its mass? Just as the speed of time is dependent upon the station / situation of the observer, sound may also manipulate perceptions of time and space when sound is the source of an immersive experience. The phenomena of this (space) time warp experience can occur when humans are the generators of sound – when sound is created from intentional minds (performers) to critical observers (audience).
