National Forest Service Exhibit presented by Western Museum of Mining & Industry at Western Museum of Mining and Industry, Colorado Springs CO

The National Forest Service Exhibit officially opens February 9 at 6 p.m. followed by a lecture at 7 p.m. by Tom L. Thompson titled “A History of the Forest Service: Reflecting on the Times, Ties, Timbers, Stakes, and Statues.” Light refreshments will be offered.

The Western Museum of Mining & Industry is pleased to announce the February 9 opening of its next exhibit, “Minerals You Use Everyday from the National Forests.” This exhibit consists of an interactive component from the National Museum of Forest Service History and a selection of minerals from WMMI’s collection. Whether we realize it or not, modern civilization is heavily dependent on minerals for everything from computers and electricity to toothpaste and makeup. This exhibit highlights

ADMISSION INFO

It is free to attend the official opening of the exhibit on February 9, as well as the lecture by Tom L. Thompson. Please contact the museum in order to reserve a spot by calling (719) 488-0880 or emailing at rsvp@wmmi.org.

All other times the normal admission fees will apply as listed below:

  • $9 – Adult
  • $8 – Military/AAA
  • $7 – Senior over 60+
  • $7 – Student 13+*
  • $5 – Child 4 – 12*
  • Free – Children under 3 (with paid adult)
