This class will give us a brief overview and comparison of the mythology and common myth stories found among the Aboriginal peoples of Australia, the Maori people of New Zealand, and the Pacific Islands. LeMay will cover a definition of comparative mythology and will examine some major myth stories found among these people. He will discuss their origins and show examples of their depictions of myth stories, as well as their “pantheons” of important deities.
