Have you ever wondered whether the oddly-shaped trees in our area, and around the country, were shaped by Nature or by someone for a specific reason?  Chances are these trees were shaped by the ancestors of Native American Indians hundreds of years ago.  Locally, these trees are known as “Ute Prayer Trees” and were used in spiritual ceremonies, or as burial or story trees, guideposts or directional markers.
