The lure of the open road calls to many us, especially during the hectic holiday season.
Here’s your chance to take a break from the hubbub and soak in the scenic vistas of the wide-open West and Southwest. On December 2 and 3, well-known local artist Michael Baum is hosting a weekend-long Open Studio event.
The Open Studio event features original oil paintings by this award-winning landscape painter. Perfect for holiday gift-giving, Baum’s one-of-a-kind paintings and affordable prints are available in a wide variety of sizes and price ranges.
Few paintings capture the vibrant light – and spirit – of the U.S. West and Southwest as successfully as Baum’s landscapes. An avid roadtripper, Baum has been exploring and painting the West and Southwest for more than 40 years. “I’ve barely scratched the surface,” he says. “The immense beauty goes beyond the visual and digs deep into the soul. Getting to that essence is the challenge of a lifetime. Plus, it’s just great fun.”
He adds, “I work out of my studio and home in Manitou Springs. I also enjoy plein-air painting – getting out and painting on site – whenever I can, whether it’s in the Garden of the Gods, Rocky Mountain National Park or Zion National Park in Utah.”
