Marigreen Estate

Have you ever wondered what that big house is on the right-hand side of Highway 24 as you head up the pass toward Cascade? Once the home of the Thomas Cusack family from 1895- 1978, the house is called Marigreen and is now the home of the Holy Cross Novitiate. Once every three years, the Ute Pass historical Society hosts a tour of Marigreen, so this year is your chance to see this magnificent historical estate. The tour takes approximately two hours and begins with an informative video at the Ute Pass Elementary School at 9230 Chipita Park Rd. Meet there at 10:00. A bus will take visitors to the estate, and docents will be onsite to answer your questions. The bus will return visitors to the school throughout the afternoon. Options are plentiful for other ac-tivities after the tour: wandering the grounds, hiking up the hill behind Colorado Wines to see the beautiful Holy Ro-sary Chapel built by the Cusack family in 1931, lunching at local eateries such as The Pantry, Mucky Duck, Swiss Cha-let or The Winery in the nearby mountain communities!
