Living History: Bear Claw the Mountain Man presented by PILLAR Institute for Lifelong Learning at The Inn at Garden Plaza, Colorado Springs CO

Bear Claw, aka Lincoln Appleyard, was born in 1799 on a farm in the Ohio River Valley. On Lincoln’s 21st birthday, he struck out for the west and his destiny. He blazed trails. BEAR CLAW, as he was known to the Indians and fur traders, died at 46. His stories about life in the open show the determination and courage of the early explorers.
Don Moon is a Colorado native with grandparents who came to Colorado in a covered wagon and homesteaded 640 acres along the lower Arkansas River.
