The Kokopelli Kids Trail Running Series is designed to introduce children pre-school through 8th grade to the sport of trail running in a fun, challenging and rewarding environment. Kids will learn how to run on the trails, they will learn to pace themselves and they will learn that running can be fun and rewarding. Running is no longer a form of punishment!

2015 Kokopelli Kids Event Details (Races START promptly at 5:30pm!)
The Kokopelli Kids Trail Running Series is designed to introduce children pre-school through 8th grade to the sport of trail running in a fun, challenging and rewarding environment. Kids will learn how to run on the trails, they will learn to pace themselves and they will learn that running can be fun and rewarding. Running is no longer a form of punishment!
The Series will kick off with a clinic hosted by 1985 Boston Marathon Champion – Lisa Rainsberger. Lisa will go over training tips, nutritional ideas, pacing and the importance of quality running shoes. The Kick Off will take place at The Colorado Running Company Wednesday, May 6th at 6:00 pm. Discounts on running shoes and equipment will be offered. We will go over the details of the Series and kids will be encouraged to ask questions! This clinic is optional. Parents and/or kids who purchase running shoes at The Colorado Running Company on May 6th will receive a $5.00 discount off the Series cost.
Participants receive a newly designed hi-tech t shirt, finishers ribbon, refreshments, and at the series final participants will receive hot pizza and beverages sponsored by Old Chicago Pizzeria. Each event will be timed and race results will be posted on the event website www.KokopelliKids.com following each event. Participants finishing in the top 3 in each age group at the series final will receive custom trophies. Participants must run all three races to be eligible for these trophies.

Wednesday May 6th – 6:00 pm – Pre-Race Clinic and Registration at The Colorado Running Company (Located at University Village 5262 N. Nevada Ave. #719.635.3833) Clinic is optional.
Friday May 8th 5:30 pm – Trail Running Race (Bear Creek Park – located just east of the public gardens)
Friday May 16th 5:30 pm – Trail Running Race (Bear Creek Park)
Friday May 22nd 5:30 pm – Trail Running Race (Bear Creek Park) After this race Old Chicago Pizza will be served and awards for the first 3 boys and girls finishers with the lowest cumulative time will received custom awards.

Wave #1 – Pre-School Girls: .50 mile trail run
Wave #2 – Pre-School Boys: .50 mile trail run
Wave #3 – Kindergarten Boys and Girls: .50 mile trail run
Wave #4 – 1st and 2nd Grade Girls: .50 mile trail run
Wave #5 – 1st and 2nd Grade Boys: .50 mile trail run
Wave #6 – 3rd and 4th Grade Boys and Girls: 1.30 mile trail run
Wave #7 – 5th-8th Grade Boys and Girls: 1.70 mile trail run
Directions to Bear Creek Park
Coming from the North: Take 1-25 to hwy. 24 West. Follow hwy. 24 to 21st St. Head south onto 21st St. until Rio Grade St. Go East (left) onto Rio Grande ¼ mile to the entrance of Bear Creek Park on the right. Follow the signs into Bear Creek Park and follow the signs and volunteer will direct you where to park.
Coming from the South: Take Cheyenne Road head west to Cresta. Head north (right) onto Cresta and follow Cresta at which point the road changes names to 21st Street. Follow 21st St. to Rio Grande Go east (right) onto Rio Grande ¼ mile to the entrance of Bear Creek Park on the right. Follow the signs into Bear Creek Park and follow the signs and volunteer will direct you where to park. Arrive early!
Registration
Participants who wish to run the Series must register for the event on the web site at www.KokopelliKids.com . If you don’t have access to a computer email Lisa@traininggoals.com.
Registration Cost
Early registration is for January 1st-March 31st. Register for one, two or all three of the races. $17.00 for each single race or $40 for the entire Series.
After March 31st the cost goes to $20 for a single race and $45 for the Series. By registering early you will guarantee your runner's shirt size in addition to keeping your costs down. Race Day shirt sizing cannot be quaranteed.
