In 2012 Jack was invited to be a member of the Palmer Lake Historical Society’s board.  Jack took on the project to research and nominate the Palmer Lake Star to be designated a state historical site.   In January 2013, the star was selected for inclusion in the State Register of Historic Properties.   In honor of the 80th year the star shines, the Pikes Peak Posse of the Westerners program is on the history of the Palmer Lake Star, also known as the Star of Bethlehem, which has shined since
