History of 1960's Music (#2127)

Back by popular demand, this class will include the influences of Big Band, post-World War II, and the 1950’s Hit Paradeon 60’s music and the music business. We will also talk about the influences of “race records,” delta blues, and rhythm and blues music forms. The driving force of the mid-to late 60’s was The Beatles, and this record-breaking foursome will be discussed along with the first two waves of the British invasion. This sound from Britain is then transformed with the fusion of folk, country, and bluegrass music to birth folk-rock and country-rock. The history of these two forms will also be discussed. With access to a large “rock and roll” collection, this class will use memorabilia from the era and audio/video extensively. (It sounds a little heavy, but it is going to be fun! We’ll all be singing along. Rock On!
