The Fountain Creek Brass Band champions music in community and educational settings, inspiring a new generation of audiences, both young and old. They continually strive for excellence in musical performance by adding diverse sets of literature to their repertoire and encouraging the growth of the musical skills of the group. The ensemble seeks opportunities to collaborate with school music programs in the form of joint concerts or special fundraising events from elementary to college level in the Pikes Peak and Front Range region. If you attend a Fountain Creek Brass Band concert, you will likely notice a certain energy flowing from the podium. Perpetual motion might well define Director Debbie Baker's style and approach to conducting and leading the FCBB towards excellence as one of the region's finest performing groups. You don't need to go far to verify that her energy has had an effect on the local musical world–just ask about any of her award- winning students at Colorado Springs Christian School, where Debbie serves as the Director of Bands and Director of Fine Arts. Debbie began her career with FCBB in 1999 as the associate director, and in 2002 was appointed as the musical director. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Music Education and Masters in Music degrees from Kansas State University, and is a member of the American School Band Directors Association, Colorado Music Educators Association, Music Educators National Conference, Tau Beta Sigma, Kappa Kappa Psi, and Phi Beta Mu. She also serves regularly as a clinician and adjudicator for state and regional music contest and workshop events.
