Ed Webster: First Ascents in Colorado and Utah
In the 1970s & 80s during his 4 years at Colorado College and 17 years living in Boulder, Ed Webster partnered with many famous climbers in Colorado Springs including Bryan Becker, Jimmie Dunn, Earl Wiggins, Steve Hong, and Stewart Green. And in Boulder, Layton Kor, Pat Ament, Roger Briggs, and Jim Erickson. Throughout his 50-year climbing career—Ed began rock climbing at age 11 in 1967—he’s put up new routes in New Hampshire, Colorado, Utah, Arctic Norway, and on Mt. Everest.
Ed Webster is an acclaimed climber and Colorado College alum. Ed’s multitude of first ascents out west are well known, including in Colorado’s Front Range, on The Diamond on Longs Peak, in the Black Canyon, and in the Canyonlands of Utah. Several Webster routes are classics, notably Super Crack in Indian Creek Canyon, the Primrose Dihedrals on Moses, the Lightning Bolt Cracks on North Sixshooter, and the Scenic Cruise, Hallucinogen Wall, and Escape Artist in Colorado’s Black Canyon.
