The Colorado Springs Chorale announces its 30th Anniversary Chefs’ Gala & Silent Auction, a great opportunity to taste masterpieces created by chefs from twenty-four of the Pikes Peak Region’s finest restaurants and caterers as they go all out in the most challenging culinary competition of them all. The 30th Anniversary Chefs’ Gala & Silent Auction take place on Sunday, March 29, 2015, at the Antlers Hilton Heritage Ballroom from 5:00 P.M. to 8:30 P.M.
The event, a contest between the best of local chefs in the categories of appetizers, entrées, and desserts is judged by a panel of culinary experts including this year’s Principal Judge: R. Allen Smith, an instructor at The Santa Fe School of Cooking. Chef Smith has just recently returned from Dubai, UAE, where he completed project management of a "New Style" grocery market known as "Maybury." Chef Smith’s Assistant Judges are: Fran Folsom, who founded the Broadmoor Cooking School which featured cooking classes by the world's best teachers. Among them was Jacques Pepin, whom Fran introduced to the Gala as its very first judge; and Chef Michael J. Longo, who is a culinary instructor for the Mission Culinary Academy where he teaches basic fundamental skills to men and women recovering from addiction at The Springs Rescue Mission.
Attendees will also enjoy bidding on fabulous gifts and entertainment and travel opportunities donated by generous Chorale patrons contributing to the Silent Auction.
In addition to his judging duties at the Gala, Chef Allen Smith will be teaching a cooking class "Foundations of New Mexican Cookery" at CHEFS Catalog, 4697 Centennial Blvd., Colorado Springs, CO 80919, on Saturday, March 28, from 4-6 pm, for a cost of $50.
