The Art of Shibori: Technique Intensive Combining Fiber Reactive Dyes & Indigo presented by Textiles West at Cottonwood Center for the Arts, Colorado Springs CO

Join Susan Haldeman from New Hue Textile Studio and art author Ruth Chandler to learn how to use the Japanese technique Shibori to clamp, twist, and tie fabric to create pattern and how to dye using indigo.

In this four-week long workshop you will learn Japanese resist techniques including pole wrapping, stitching, clamping, and binding with marbles, beans, and other objects.

Our fabrics will be various natural fibers such as cotton, silk, linen, and hemp.

We will work with fiber reactive dyes and indigo focusing on color placement, with shibori techniques to create designs that are intentional and creative.
