Abstraction, Path to the Ineffable

Please join Power Boothe at Cottonwood Center for the Arts for Abstraction, Path to the Ineffable. As an internationally represented artist, Boothe has been exhibiting work for four decades. He studied painting at the California College of the Arts and the San Francisco Art Institute before recieving a BA in Painting from Colorado College. Boothe’s works generally incorporate a limited palatte in dreamy blues, grays, and whites with repeating lines and forms which bring energy or peace to his paintings, drawings, and prints. His attention to detail and meticulous eye shine through each piece in his characteristic style.

His work is represented in public collections including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Guggenheim Museum, the Whitney Museum, and the Museum of Modern Art in New York. His work is also represented in the collections of the Wadsworth Atheneum in Hartford, the Baltimore Museum of Art, and the British Museum in the UK, as well as many private collections nationally and internationally. In 1989 he received an Honorary Doctorate of Arts degree from Colorado College for his mid-career accomplishments.

Abstraction, Path to the Ineffable will explore the history of art and abstraction, illumination and transcendance through creation of art, and Boothe’s personal experiences and connections as a working artist.
