My pottery is currently shown at the Hunter-Wolff Gallery. Here’s what they have to say: The Hunter-Wolff Gallery is proud to present the unique ceramic designs created by Colorado Springs artist Dave Meyers. Meyers’s original designs are hand-built (often referred to as slab built pottery), not wheel-thrown or extruded. Like a true artist, he seeks the freedom of taking a piece wherever his imagination takes him and strives not to be confined by the tools of his craft. His latest pieces reflect a slightly, almost familiar ethnic look without being specific to a geographic area or culture. Collectors often describe his pieces as exotic and appreciate the crisp edges and symmetry of his sleek designs. In some cases, Meyers creates impressions that he sculpts from unusual objects to add interesting textured panels and segments to the overall design. This master craftsman prides himself in delivering the highest quality, serviceable ceramic designs with a uniqueness that excites the imagination and stimulates the senses. In addition to quality craftsmanship, Meyers work is highly desirable because of the wide variety in shapes, sizes, rich colors and textures that result in a fresh "designer" look with a sophisticated flare. Meyers says, "There is no end to the forms and shapes that this ancient medium allows," and he is always exploring new compositions to achieve dynamic art for its timeless beauty and enjoyment that can only be found in fine art objects. Meyers says, "There is no end to the forms and shapes that this ancient medium allows," and he is always exploring new compositions to achieve dynamic art for its timeless beauty and enjoyment that can only be found in fine art objects. After completing his degree in Fine Art, Meyers began his career in southern California with an aerospace company in graphics design. Shortly thereafter, he developed an interest in aviation and is one of the early participants in the pioneer days of hang gliding. With the combination of his technical training and creative skills, Meyers followed his interest in aeronautical development and successfully built and flew three full-sized airplanes. Later his entrepreneurial spirit led him to build an industrial model-making business catering to aerospace companies in southern California. Ten years later as an accomplished design engineer, he relocated to Colorado Springs and quickly adapted his expertise to innovative toy design for a flying toy manufacturer where he remained until 2000. Enabled with well honed skills in engineering and a life-long love of the arts, Meyers returned to his passion full time to focus on ceramic design and creation. Meyer’s work can only be found and purchased at Hunter-Wolff Gallery, 2510 W. Colorado Ave., Colorado Springs, Colorado 80904
